Indian-PIN Code Zones: -

     Postal Index Number(PIN) Code was introduced in 1972 throughout the country. The system divides India into eight Postal Index Zones. Each zone is subdivided into Postal Circle. The Postal Index Number consists of six digits. The extreme left first digit represent the zone in the country, the second and third represent the sub-zone and the manner of routing mail. The first three digits indicate the sorting district. The next three digits pinpoint the delivery post office within a sorting district. All the six digits together identify the delivery post office.







Pin Code Zones:-

Zone 1:- Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh,Himachal Prades
                and Jammu&Kashmir.

Zone 2:- Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal.

Zone 3:- Rajasthan, Gujarat,Daman and Diu and Dardra&NagarHavali.

Zone 4:- Maharashtra, Goa, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

Zone 5:- Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

Zone 6:- Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Lakshadweep and Pondicherry.
