Solutions:

Question 1:

During 2000-2001, quantity of food grains allocated = 11 + 16 = 27
Quantity of food grains off taken = 4 + 8 = 12
The required percentage = (12/27)x 100 = 44.4%

Ans:- Choice 2

Question 2:

If 40% of subsidiary is spent for transportation and storage, 60% is remaining. Subsidy earmarked for one tonne of the food grain

     60% of 25,000 x crores of rupees
=  ---------------------------------------------------
      (38+37) million tonnes

    60     25,000 x 107 rupees
=  ---- x --------------------------  = Rs. 2000
   100     75 x 106 tonnes

Ans:- Choice 1.

Question 3:

Quantity of rice off taken
---------------------------------- =
Quantity of rice allocated

In the year 1999-2000 = 11/14 >1/2
In the year 2000-2001 = 8/16 = 1/2
In the year 2001-2002 = 8/17 < 1/2
In the year 2002-2003 = 10/37 <1/2
In the year 2003-2004 = 12/34 < 1/2

Only 11/14 > 1/2 and the other are less than half.

Ans:- Choice 1.

Question 4:

During the given years total allocation of food grains = quantity if wheat and rice allocated.

= (109 +118) = 227 million tonnes
Total off take = 37 +49 = 86 million tonnes
Quantity that is not off taken = 227 -86 = 141 million tonnes.
Required percentage = (141/227) x 100 = 62.1%

Ans:- Choice 4.

Question 5:

The required percentage
   (38+37) -- (13+17)
= --------------------- x 100 = 150%
      (13 + 17)

Ans:- Choice 3.
